This Article is an overview of the law relating to mergers and acquisitions in Ireland in light of the Competition Act 2002, which took effect from the 1st January 2003. The author deals with issues such as mandatory and voluntary notifications to the Competition Authority, the guidelines for assessment of mergers and acquisitions, and the appeal of Determinations by the Competition Authority.
